Benedict Inn Retreat & Conference Center seeking donations for Arbor Day

The Beech Grove Greenscape Commission, Parks Department and Daughters of the American Revolution are working together to promote Arbor Day this April. The DAR will create displays at the library and in the Beech Grove schools, as well as working with the Greenscape Commission to organize a coloring contest for the elementary schools. The Greenscape Commission will also work with the Parks Department to host “Going Green in the Grove” on Saturday, April 28. Businesses of Beech Grove are invited to help support Arbor Day by making a small donation for materials and prizes. Additionally, ladies from the DAR may be stopping in to ask if posters may be displayed in storefront windows. A small donation would be a big help. The Greater Beech Grove Chamber of Commerce invites you to take part in its third Community Fair, sponsored by Franciscan Health, 10a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Beech Grove Middle School in Beech Grove. The Chamber’s Community Fair will include booth opportunities to feature local businesses, not-for-profits, local services as well as a health fair for residents living in and around the Beech Grove area. All Shred and Hanna Wrecking and Recycling will also return to offer complimentary on-site paper shredding and large item recycling services. As a chamber member, you receive the first opportunity to sponsor the event or secure a booth space at the Community Fair. New Executive Director Announced

After an extensive search, the GBGCOC Board of Directors extended an offer to a wonderful candidate for the Executive Director position. To our delight, Ron Mayes, EdD, of Southport, accepted the position and has begun the transition into the role. Dr. Mayes, a retired educator, spent his early professional career as a technical editor, teacher, principal, and at age of 26, became one of the youngest school administrators in the State of Indiana. He later served as Superintendent of Education in the communities of Edinburgh and Kokomo. In Florida, Dr. Mayes helped establish two charter schools, he began a chamber of commerce in Edinburgh, IN and he and his wife established the Taylor Township Imagination Library in Kokomo which provided a free book every month to every registered Taylor Township pre-school aged child. World Famous Cavalier Drum Corp in Beech Grove

Drum Corps International World Championships will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium from August 10 to August 12, 2017.  World champions, The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, from Rosemont, Illinois, will be hosted by the City of Beech Grove and Beech Grove City Schools from August 8 to August 13. With the most recent changes in the schedule, there will be NO Beech Grove High School Community Night at Beech Grove High School for The Cavaliers on Wednesday evening, August 9 and no other evening practices between August 8 and August 12. If it is not raining, The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps will be practicing at Beech Grove High School during the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 10 to 12.  Our Beech Grove community is invited to watch practices in the football stadium at Beech Grove High School.
